We are thrilled to welcome seasoned guide Laurel Archer for her third season with our Canoe North Adventures Team. Laurel has been a canoe guide and instructor for over twenty-five years, starting her career in 1988 in northern Saskatchewan. Laurel currently lives in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island where she teaches lake and whitewater canoeing and surf, sea and whitewater kayaking courses, as well as training guides, instructors and outdoor educators. She continues to guide canoe and sea kayak expeditions for select companies across North America. Laurel is an accomplished author of the guidebooks, Northern Saskatchewan Canoe Trips: A Guide to 15 Wilderness Rivers and Northern British Columbia Canoe Trips. She is a patron of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society’s Boreal Forest Program and a member of the International Explorers Club and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. In her spare time Laurel races competitively, paddling in events on waterways world-wide. She has been known to hike, but prefers to use gravity in her favour whenever possible. She learned that from growing up on the prairie! The North taught her what it means to be free.
