What do you want to feel like?

The Right Fit

Many paddlers dream of experiencing a northern wilderness adventure. It is ingrained especially in the Ontario mind set and these dreams are clearly articulated by people that pass through our Ontario base or speak to us by phone or email. Many of these people are in danger of never making this dream come true. Our strength is in being able to help them turn their dream into reality. Everyone has a long list of why they cannot embark on an expedition that includes issues with money, kids, parents, work, time off from their regular lives, fear of stepping into the unknown, fear that they would not be able to handle the physical requirements of the trip, fear of travelling with people they do not know, and fear of bears and bugs to name a few.

Canoe North Adventures is a company who delivers not just wilderness adventure but also the highest level of personalized service possible. To us, this is not just important. It is a key component in enhancing your experience. We care deeply about those who paddle with us and we continue to stay in touch with many of our clients. We offer logistically sound, highly safe and competently led canoe trips. We add to this a huge amount of fun and comradery. We aim to make this trip one of the most significant adventures you have been on in your life. We offer the following:

Canoe North Adventures offers:

  • an exceptional ability to build relationships
  • the creativity to make the process fun
  • the capacity to inspire and build confidence
  • the patience and respect that it requires to help someone through this thinking
  • a warm and friendly atmosphere with strong visuals and multimedia shows
  • extensive resource materials and resource library
  • ability to communicate the importance of a northern trip as it relates to “a life well-lived”
  • an attractive, near-to-market Ontario base

Once there is a commitment to travel north, we take seriously the responsibility of preparing you for your trip, to remain in touch, to continue to build the relationship and to provide them with detailed trip and gear lists, itineraries and support. Often, our groups meet before they travel north. Each client receives a trip binder that has in depth details about every expectation and aspect of their individual expedition. We offer unrestricted access to information from us in the form of emails, phone calls and drop in visits at our base.

Once in the north, you will step off the plane in a state of heightened anticipation knowing that, after months of preparation, the expedition is underway. We meet you at the airport, take you into town for last minute shopping, and then to the shuttle to the river. We encourage you to come a day or two early so you have time to acclimatize to the time change, ensure your bags have caught up to you and have time to reorganize and shop.

Our rate of return business and the testimonials of our clients indicate that we provide a huge level of value-added to their wilderness experience. Our trips are designed so that people have a high level of confidence in the safety and logistical plans for the trip but also we offer learning, comradery and fun. Studies show that clients reporting about their various northern experiences often rate the expedition, safety and logistics highly but often are disappointed in the level of human interaction and support that is offered. Contrasting this, CNA knows that we deliver a significant physical, mental and spiritual wilderness experience.

By offering pristine wilderness adventures in remote and seldom travelled regions, our clients feel honoured and privileged to step into an untouched landscape. They feel they are “custodians” of these sacred places and they yearn for knowledge and understanding of their place in the natural world.

Training and safety instruction continue on the river. Our intention is that each paddler improves their paddling and camping skills exponentially and that they develop a deep respect and understanding of safe camping, canoeing skills, river dynamics, wilderness skills and environmental care.

Canoe North Adventures offers:

  • high degree of safe and secure river travel through training and education
  • world class wilderness river trips
  • excellent guide/client ratio
  • fantastic fresh, healthy menu
  • comradery amongst trippers
  • empowerment through shared leadership
  • first-class gear and equipment
  • enthusiastic and friendly staff
  • assist in planning every detail of the expedition and extended travel
  • skill at matching the ideal experience to client’s personal skill level

When the trip is over, our final night dinner adds value to the deep level of experience, the friendship made and the relationships that we have with our paddlers. This is a time to look back, reflect and celebrate a great adventure. It is also a difficult time as new friendships for life have been formed through an unforgettable shared adventure and the time to say “good-bye” is near. These dinners are opportunities to recall the heartfelt moments and the life-altering experiences that have been shared. It is also a time to plan our trip reunion dinners back in Ontario and even dream of the next Canoe North Adventure!

Shortly after the clients return home, there is a planned trip reunion to share photographs, view the commemorative trip DVD and relive the wilderness dream. This trip reunion serves to reinforce the positive aspects of their trip and to remember a world-class experience. A copy of the DVD is sent home with each alumni paddler to share with friends and family. Many of our paddlers remain friends with their trip-mates after they return home and it is not unusual to have spontaneous visits at our studio gallery where fresh dreams of adventures “yet-to-be-taken” are often born.
