Hiking Adventures

hiking1Over the last eighteen years, Canoe North Adventures has augmented its canoe trips with hiking expeditions with great success. Hikes have set out in the Richardson Range, on the Chilkoot Trail and in Kluane National Park. The response from our clients has been extremely positive and we will be growing this part of our business over the next few years.

Anne-Marie da Silva and Walter Brennan with their sons Lawrence and Joel joined Al, Lin and Taylor on an exploratory canoe trip on the Tischu River, a tributary of the Keele River (read more about this trip here).  This trip also starts at Mile 222 and the area was so beautiful, a truly, pristine wilderness, a trip had to be planned to hike in the region. Already planned for this summer, Canoe North Adventures with guide, Al Pace is taking a group out on the Canol Trail from Mile 222 high in the Mackenzie Mountains just east of the Yukon border down to the Godlin Lakes.

The Canol Trail runs from just outside of Whitehorse, Yukon to Norman Wells, Northwest Territories. It was built during the Second World War by the United States and Canadian armies. The US was uncertain whether the oil supply would be cut off from Alaska when the Japanese took the Aleutian Islands. The story of the building of this road can be found at www.normanwells.com/visit/canol_trail.html or www.explorenorth.com/library/yafeatures/bl-canol.htm

Watch our site for new developments over the next few years to build more hiking excursions into our adventure mix.
